The Ekiti State Ministry of Justice will commence the digitization of its records, systems and processes with a view to improving service delivery to the government and people of Ekiti State.
This disclosure was made yesterday by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda while inspecting various types of technology equipment purchased by the Ministry.
According to Fapohunda, “the Covid 19 pandemic has affirmed the important place of technology in justice administration. This situation has imposed an additional obligation on the Ministry of Justice to enhance our digital footprint in the delivery of legal services to the Government and people of Ekiti State.
“Digital technology will transform the way we communicate, learn, and work. This is a critical enabler for service delivery,” he added.
The digitization schedule published by the Ministry states that the digitization process will be phased. Phase 1 will commence with the digitization of all those who work in the Ministry – lawyers and non lawyers alike, while Phase 2 will focus on the digitization of legal processes and documents.
The Attorney-General further stated that “we recognise the need for sustainability. We are therefore taking steps to provide adequate training for our staff”
It will be recalled that the Ministry recently launched a State Counsel Virtual Lecture program, where lawyers in the Ministry are encouraged to present public lectures virtually to local and international audience on topical public interest legal matters.
