The newly inaugurated Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and
Values Orientation, Hon. Akin Omole has said that the State Government
would continue to support local broadcast outfits in the State towards
promoting proper information dissemination that would enhance the
knowledge base of the people.
Hon. Omole who gave the assurance in his office in Ado Ekiti while
receiving General Managers of Radio and Television Stations in the
State, said he would work with the Heads of Stations towards achieving
success in his new assignment.
Stressing the importance of the second half of any administration to
its overall success, Omole noted that the recent cabinet reshuffle in
the State was subsequent upon a mid-term assessment of the
administration and the need to refine the administration’s agenda
adding that government needed to infuse people into the cabinet to
boost development in the State.
He assured that he would therefore leave no stone unturned at ensuring
proper management and dissemination of information of government’s
programmes and activities, adding that he would look into the
suggestions of the media bosses and forward recommendations to
appropriate quarters where necessary.
The Commissioner also urged them not to hesitate to relate with his
office, saying that his success in office largely depends on the
cooperation of all stakeholders.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Nigerian Television Authority
(NTA), Ado Ekiti, Mr. Olusegun Osinowo who spoke on behalf of his
colleagues congratulated the Commissioner on his new appointment,
describing it as putting a round peg in a round hole, considering his
antecedents.
Expressing gratitude to the Commissioner for what he described a warm
welcome for the general Managers, Mr. Osinowo explained that the visit
was in solidarity with the new Government’s spokesman and to express
their readiness to partner with him in the task ahead.
Osinowo recalled that the forum of the General Managers of Broadcast
outfits in the State was formed earlier in the year and had been
relating cordially with the erstwhile Commissioner adding that the
relationship assisted tremendously in managing information during the
thick of the Coronavirus pandemic.
He invited the Commissioner to conduct a familiarization visit to the
Stations in order to properly get acquainted with them and their
challenges with a view to helping them out.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information
and Values Orientation, Dr. (Mrs.) Adekunbi Obaisi expressed gratitude
to the General Managers for their visit and display of commitment to
support Government.
The Permanent Secretary who lamented that the Corona virus hindered
the progress of a lot of programmes of the State such the regular
“Meet Your Governor” programme, however noted that the State was in
the forefront of news dissemination on Covid-19, adding that
relationships like the one with the media bosses tremendously assisted
in getting the State out of the woods.

Broadcasting Service Of Ekiti State; Mr. Adewale Ojo of Ayoba FM; Mr.
Donald Falayi, Voice FM; Mr. Jide Ogunluyi, Newcruse FM; Layi Oyawa,
Our People’s FM and Mr. Dokun Ladele from Progress FM.
