The National and Worldwide President of EKSU Alumni Dr Adetunberu Oludotun today received calls from the parents of Sanni Abdulateef Oluwasegun a graduate of Physics in EKSU (2014) and Mohammed Ruqayat Ajoke, a graduate of Law in EKSU (2018), who were both involved in a ghastly road accident along EKSU road in May 2020.
Similarly, the attention of the National President of EKSU Alumni Association was also drawn to an article which was being circulated on the social media today.
Arising from this, the National President alongside the Chairman of Ekiti State Chapter Comrade Deji Oso both went to visit the victims and the following facts emerged:
- That, the victims are Alumni Members.
- That, while Segun is recuperating despite his fracture, Ruqayat’s case has remained critical , as she can’t still walk with her legs despite the various surgeries done on her.
- That, the parents have allegedly expended over 4million Naira to save the life of the victims and they are still required to raise nothing less than 1.6million Naira
4 That, the Alumni leadership has listened to the victims regarding how the accident occurred and also went to the police to listen to their own account after which the EKSU Alumni leadership decided *to intervene on compassionate ground despite that the report circulated on the Social media putting blame on the Vice- Chancellor and the University is misleading and calculated attempt by the fifth columnists to orchestrate unholy issue out of the unfortunate incident.
5 That, Ruqayat is expected to be called to call to bar this month but she cannot even honour the noble call because of her sad situation, while Segun is in crutches and the parents have been drained and thrown now into abject poverty.
6 That, we hereby call on the members of the BOT, Eminent Persons’ Group, and other Stakeholders of our Alumni Association to assist and please come to the aid of the two accident victims who are our Alumni members.
