The Civil Service has been described as an institution that is highly rewarding for dedicated and diligent Officers.
The Head of Service, Mrs. ‘Peju Babafemi made this remark in Ado during the Senior Management Committee (SMC) valedictory session for the retireing Permanent Secretary of the Civil Service Commission, Mr. Remi Obaparusi who is also a member of the SMC.
Mrs. Babafemi described Remi Obaparusi as a leader worthy of emulation, a thorough bred Civil Servant and an Administrative Officer who has a deep understanding of his job and handled arduous assignments calmly and successfully.
She described the retiring Permanent Secretary as an asset to the Public Service especially with his commitment to uphold the ethos of the service and mentoring of young Officers.
The Head of Service remarked that Obaparusi has the ability to dissect knotty issues painstakingly with administrative acumen, he is not given to flamboyance and yet endowed with robust intellect and wisdom.
While thanking Obaparusi for his selfless contribution to the Service of Ekiti State, the Head of Service prayed for a happy post-retirment life for Mr. Remi Obaparusi.
Other members of the SMC, Dr. Adekunbi Obaisi, Barrister Dele Agbede, Mr. Olusesan Alabi, Dr. Olufolakemi Olomojobi and Mr. Bayo Opeyemi also extolled the virtues of Mr. Obaparusi and his exemplary leadership.
In his response, Mr. Joseph Aderemi Obaparusi thank God for his retirement from the Public Service of Ekiti State. He said that there were challenges in his days as a Civil Servant but with tenacity of purpose he was able to overcome.
Obaparusi said that the Civil Service made him what he is today and will still be ready to contribute his quota at any point when called to do so.
He encouraged Civil Servants to be up and doing and be dedicated to their work which will guarantee a good reward for their labour.
Obaparusi thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for giving him the opportunity to serve his dear State as a Permanent Secretary.
Mr Obaparusi was born in Iyin Ekiti on September 11th, 1960, attended University of Ilorin with Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology in 1986 and bagged a Masters Degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from Ekiti State University in 2008
Obaparusi started his career in the old Ondo State Civil Service Commission on January 30th, 1980 as Principal Personnel Assistant IV GL. 08 and later transferred to the Personnel/Finance Officer Cadre in November 1st, 1994.
Joseph Aderemi Obaparusi rose through the ranks and was appointed an Executive Secretary on May 6th, 2017 and in April 23rd, 2019 was appointed as a Permanent Secretary by His Excellency, Dr. Kayode John Fayemi.
