This is the question that is expected to flow in d lips of every concerned citizen of the state as JKF administration clocks 2 yrs come oct 16 2020.
Workers welfare:
As usual, every govt with its own challenges the current administration is not an exemption. One of the major problems this administration is facing is the inherited backlogs of salaries and pensions left by the previous pdp administration. The effect of this in a state like ours which is purely a civil service state can not be glossed over. With d help of God and commitment of the Governor, the era of regular payment of salary returned back to the state. Unfailingly, salaries and pensions are now being received on or before 27th of every month. Aside this, the govt out of the limited resources also struggled to pay a few out of the arrears owed by the last administration..
Commerce and industry:
Those in d state during the last regime knew what it took to do business. Very many businesses closed down and some moved out of the state. By the special grace of God and with total will of the present administration, Gossy water which is our collective heritage came back to operation. Also Ikogosi warm spring which practically became dead was again resuscitated by the current administration. The present govt also ensures that Ekameta axis of Ekitiwest that had been cut off from the national grid for over 4 yrs was reconnected back and electricity supply was restored back to d communities. It gladdens our hearts that Ikun diary farm, which had been abandoned for close to 3 decades did not only come back to operation, but also created employment and increase Internally Generated Revenue of the state.
Education :
In the area of Education, the present govt placed much interests and values on education being our major investment. The last administration commercialised education in d state by introducing fees/levies at all levels. The present administration not only abolished the illegal fees,it also made education free up till secondary school level. Under this administration, the medical students of Ekiti state University that had been floating for close to a decade graduated and the Governor offered them automatic employment. This administration also commenced the payment of bursary and allowances to all tertiary students which was last paid in 2014.
The present govt last yr established 4 new secondary schools in honor some of our senior citizens who have contributed to the development of the state. The new schools are: Deji Fasuan Comprehensive High Schl.Ayo Fansanmi High School,David Oke High school and Banji Akintoye High School. To the glory of God,the new mega schools will be commissioned during the 2 yrs administration celebrations of Mr Governor. College of Agriculture at Isan Ekiti is also nearing full completion. Recently, the state House of Assembly passed a bill to upgrade the College of Education ikere to a full fledged University.
Health .
At the beginning of this administration, the deplorable condition of health facilities at the tertiary, secondary and primary health sectors in d state were appalling and nothing to write home about. The Maternity ward ,Children Emergency ward and Aduni Olayinka Cancer Diagnostic Centre at the Teaching Hospital which all became dilapidated before JKF got back to power have now been renovated and put back to use. As at today, massive reconstruction work is going on at virtually all the secondary and primary health centres in d state.
Water .
Its not news that despite the abundance of 3 major dams in d state, over 90 percent of the state lacked pipe borne Water. As at today the story has changed for better. 9 LGs out of 16 LGs in d state have been linked to Ero and Egbe dam for supply of hygienic pipe borne water. An investment of over N3b was put into this. By the special grace of God,a befitting administrative edifice for the state water corporation will be commissioned by the Governor next week.
Infrastructure
One of the things we should appreciate about the current administration and in particular the Governor is his belief in d context of “Government is a continuum” The Governor places so much priority on this and value for Tax payers money. This l believe made him to ensure continuity and speedy completion of all abandoned projects of the previous administrations. Such projects include the Oja Oba central Market, State secretariat complex ,Civic center,Cargo Airport and many more.
Depspite lean resources and and paucity of funds, the present government has commenced construction of major roads that cut across the 3 senatorial district of d state . Currently work is going on on Ado-New Iyin dual carriage, Aramoko – Erijiyan-Ikogosi Rd, Agbado -Ode-Isinbode -Omuo Rd,Ilupeju-Ire-Igbemo Rd and Oye -Ayede -Iye-Ikun Rd.
Information also has it that over 1,000 km is billed to be constructed under RAMP project.
Agriculture .
Late last yr,over 200 hectares of farm land was cleared by this administration to assit the farmers in d preparation for the outgoing farming session. The state government has entered into a MOU with Stallion groups and Dangote farm plc for d production of bagged rice from the state. Currently a modern rice mill factory in Ado Ekiti is billed to be commissioned by Mr Governor before the end of the yr.
This might not be enough but we believe the development of the state cutting across all sectors has taken off and with d little we have seen,a good n brighter future behold the state.
Long live JKF
Long Live Ekiti State.
God Bless our dear state.
