In continuation of its human development and workers capacity building
programme of the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration in Ekiti
State, a two-day workshop has been organized for the Administrative
and Information Officers in the Local Government Service of Ekiti
State.
Speaking at the workshop, the Chairman of Ekiti State Local
Government Service Commission, Mr. Adewumi Abejide said the workshop
was organized to train the officers on contemporary techniques of
speech and report writing.
The Commission Chairman who spoke through the Commissioner for
Appointment and Posting in the Commission, Barrister Dele Oloje, added
that the training was one of the arrays of training programs
strategically designed by the commission to address skill and
competence gaps in the system in order to help drive the policies of
government and implement her programs effectively.
He noted that Administrative and Information Officers in the local
government system needed to be adequately equipped to discharge their
responsibilities as career officers who were hired to use their skills
to drive and implement government policies to the citizens’ advantage.
According to him, understanding the language and nuances of
communication would assist in effective transmit ion of government
message to the people.
Mr Abejide advised the participants to use new skills and knowledge
gained at the workshop to change the face of public communication at
the grass root, in such a way that the communication gap between the
government and the governed would substantially bridge.
The chairman assured the participant of continuous training.
Responding, one of the participants, Mr. Familoye promised to justify
the resources that had been committed into the program at developing
the local government system in the state.
