Residents of Olorunda and Olorunsogo communities in Ado-Ekiti, the
Ekiti State Capital, have again been advised to approach the Ministry
of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and obtain valid documents
that will legalize their claim to ownership of the properties in those
areas.
The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon.
Febisola Adewale reiterated this during a routine control and
enforcement exercise embarked upon by the Inspectorate Department of
the Ministry to the affected areas.
Adewale who noted that the land was initially allocated to the state
University but suffered encroachment through the activities of the so
called land owners, advised occupants to comply with the government
earlier directive which requires occupants of the land to acquire
necessary documents such as survey plan, building plan, Certificate of
Occupancy and payment of one hundred thousand naira only (N100,000.00)
per plot as regularization fee for them to become the rightful owners
of such properties.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser on Lands, Housing and Urban
Development, Mrs. Olufunke Falodun said that the government directive
which was issued during the regime of the former Governor, Engr. Segun
Oni is still in force.
She maintained that the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration was
considerate enough to have given room for residents of the area to
regularize their ownership of such properties rather than demolishing
them.
She charged residents to reciprocate the kind gesture of the
government by complying with the directive without further delay.
