In it’s bid to ensure bumper harvest and profitable agricultural business, the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is partnering Tax Agro and Chemicals Limited of Nigeria to sell fertilizers to farmers across the state at a subsidized rate of N5,500.00.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti at the flag off of sales of the first instalment 6,000 bags of 20:10:10 NPK fertilizer, Dr Fayemi said his determination to support farmers to boost their production yield informed his decision to make subsidized fertilizers which is the most expensive input and a key component in profitable business available to them.
The Governor who spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Abiodun Oyebanji, stressed that his government is working assiduously to provide enabling environment that would enhance food security, create employment opportunities, empower women and youth, reduce poverty as well as create wealth.
He maintained that all promises made to them during the electioneering period will be fulfilled to the letters.
Fayemi urged the farmers to make judious use of the fertilizers and not sell them as comprehensive research and analysis of the soil of the state was done before they came up with this particular brand.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Folorunso Olabode said measures would be put in place to ensure the fertilizer is used within the state.
While responding, the Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Mr. Alagbada Adeniran thanked the governor for his prompt response to their needs.
He pledged on behalf of all farmers to join hands with the present administration to ensure the success of it’s policies and programmes.
