
The Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Samuel Abejide, has stressed the needs to strengthen the Local Government Service for effective and efficient service delivery.
The Chairman stated this while receiving the report of the Committee on the Appointment of Heads of Local Government Administration and Creation of Legal Department in the Ekiti State Local Government Service Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti.
Abejide, who lauded the committee for being prompt and painstaking, stated that the Local Government Service Commission was mindful of the importance of the committee’s assignment to the local government service.
He assured that the commission would study the report of the committee, which was inaugurated on August 5 , 2019, and consider the recommendations for implementation in the overall interest of the local government service.
Earlier, while presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Segun Onaade, a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission, explained that the committee consulted widely before making its recommendations.
He expressed the Committee’s deep appreciation for the opportunity the commission gave the members to serve.
The highlights of the report included the appointment of Heads of Local Government Administration from among officers on GL 16 in the 16 local governments through competitive selection process and the creation of the Legal Department, which, he noted, was desirable for improved service delivery.
