To commemorate the One Year Anniversary of Governor Kayode Fayemi in Office, farm settlements across Ekiti State felicitate with His Excellency by hosting government officials while extending prayers to the Administration.
The weeklong visit cuts across Ekiti Central Senatorial Districts (Ipoti and Efon communities in Ijero and Efon Alaaye Local Government Areas), Ekiti South Senatorial District (Ogotun) and Ekiti North Senatorial District (Ikole).
While feasting with representatives of the government, Baale of Oyikaka community in Ipoti, Ijero LGA, Chief Joshua Oluwashola Akande accompanied by the Youth Leader, Mr. Animashaun Odunayo, expressed utmost gratitude to the Governor on threading a path of development widely felt by the indigenes even at the grassroots.
Chief Akande while making his speech said that the impact of the present Administration’s effort on Agriculture and Rural Development (Pillar Two) is largely felt by farmers across the community.
“Governor Kayode Fayemi has been a blessing to Ekiti Kete. We are happy he is fulfilling his promises to the people at the grassroots. His programmes on Agric and Rural Development have been so beneficial to us. Our farmers are happy because they get support from the government and I can understand there are plans ongoing to improve on our access roads so that our farm produce can yield financial benefits,” he said.
The Youth Leader, Mr. Odunayo also extended his appreciation to the Governor on his agenda on Social Investment, saying that more youths yearn to benefit from relevant programmes.
A beneficiary of Ounje Arugbo (one of the programmes on Social Investment), Mrs. Lucia Ogundele who is also a farmer in Ipoti said that the programme has helped to sustain her feeding, adding that she has been a beneficiary of the programme for over a year.
“I have been a beneficiary of Ounje Arugbo for over one year now and I am happy because it has really sustained me. I want to specially thank the Governor and Her Excellency, Erelu Bisi Fayemi for this kind gesture towards the elderly in local communities across the state,” she said.
Visibly present at the event in Ipoti were uniformed members of the Ekiti State Peace Corps under the command of the State Commandant, Hon. Dele Owoju and Senior Special Assistant on Mobilisation (Rural), Princess Olowolagba.
In Olobe farm settlement, Efon Alaaye LGA, residents greeted government’s representatives in a very warm reception.
Leader of the farmstead, Elder Joseph Olagunju Taiwo, acknowledged the positive impacts of the government’s Social Investment programmes (specifically, Ounje Arugbo). He also confirmed that the Governor’s effort on Agriculture and rural development is largely felt at the grassroots.
“I want to specially thank Governor Kayode Fayemi for his continuous support to the wellbeing of the aged and indigent ones in Efon Alaaye. The Ounje Arugbo programme is one that has really alleviated the sufferings of the people at the elderly ones in this community. I also want to specially thank his wife, Her Excellency Erelu Bisi Fayemi whose programmes have also changed the lives of many in this locality. We are grateful,” he said.
Elder Joseph also mentioned for five other beneficiaries of the Ounje Arugbo programme in his farmstead namely; Florence Odewole, Amota Felicia, Oluwadare Abosede, Victoria Omolayo, and Bolanle Ojo.
While addressing residents of Olobe, incoming Vice-Chairman, Efon Alaaye L.G.A., Mrs. Oluwatayo Aderemi assured them of the government’s continuous social engagement.
“The government will continue in its efforts to bring dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State. We also need your support and cooperation with the government to make these policies and programmes realizable,” she said.
