In an exclusive interview immediately upon being inaugurated as commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Honourable Barrister Omole, a past legislator at Ekiti State House of Assembly spoke briefly on his vision for the State Ministry under his watch.
Below is the excerpts of the interview:
INTERVIWER: Congratulations, Hon. Commissioner on your new appointment, so quickly we would like to ask what you intend to bring on board now that you have been made the commissioner?
HON. COMMISSIONER: At least for now, we must bear in mind that I must still go into the Ministry and take stock of what the Ministry has been able to achieve in the past, (you know the government is about half way into the administration’s tenure), and take stock of what they have been able to do and see how I can improve on the system, that is one, two; I can tell you straight away as a politician, also a lawyer, I believe the essence of government is to make sure that there is no gap between the government and the governed, the governed in the sense of the people, to make sure that every activity of government is made known to the people and the government to get feedback from the people so, there won’t be any sort of gap between the government and the governed. You know that it is a social contract between the government and the governed. There should not be a dislocation in this regard.
INTERVIEWER: Sir, it seems you have always had experience in the private sector, how do you intend to balance the private sector experience with government bureaucracy?
HON. COMMISSIONER: The issue is this, I have spent the substantial part of my adult life in public service and that is where I really acquired much experience and I want to tell you that this will be such an advantage to me in the discharge of my new duty. I am a lawyer, and I can tell you that I will compliment my other colleagues in government as to the way and manner the government should be run. My contribution will be in the area of doing things rightly as the government is making very tremendous effort in this regard and mine is complimentary and I will make sure that I do this to the best of my ability.
INTERVIEWER: Lastly, we didn’t ask of your name and your new position?
HON. COMMISIONER: My name is Adebowale Ayodele Omole, I am to take charge of the Ministry of Information and Value Orientation.
INTERVIEWER: Thank you very much sir, and congratulations once again sir
