
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has achieved another significant milestone by debuting in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2025. According to the official rankings, FUOYE secured the 12th spot out of 21 qualified Institutions in Nigeria, among over 267 institutions, marking a momentous achievement for the University. The Covenant University secured first place, with Ahmadu Bello University and Landmark University taking second and third positions, respectively.

The Ag. Director of Innovation and Digital Technology, Dr OS Ayanda who credited the accomplishment to the visionary leadership of Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina, stated that the ranking is FUOYE’s first participation in the Times Higher Education WUR category, and that the university previous THE ranking in June was connected to the SDGs 2024 Impact Ranking of Universities. “We are thrilled that the FUOYE has excelled in its international outlook, showcasing the commitment of the University to research, innovation and global collaboration,” he said.
In response to the achievement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, encouraged staff to continue publishing in reputable indexed journals and to adopt proactive strategies that would elevate the status of the University globally. He emphasized that the recognition by THE reinforces the university’s aspiration to be a leading institution not only in Nigeria but across the world.
The World University Ranking highlights the growing reputation of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti on the international stage, with a focus on global partnerships, research, innovation and academic excellence.
