In politics, there are moments when emotion clamours louder than reason, and personal disappointment seeks to masquerade as principle. At such moments, if one can hieve a sigh, retreat inward and reflect deeply, one would discover that loyalty should not be pigeonholed within a personal impression, but the understanding of what loyalty truly means. It is easy to stand for a cause, and with a cause when the wind blows in one’s favour, but far more demanding to remain steadfast when outcomes differ from expectations. Many factors must come to play.
I have been called many names; traitor, unprincipled, ojelu,……. ; labels casually deployed to explain away a decision that was neither impulsive nor transactional. Yet conviction does not always announce itself with noise; sometimes, it speaks in calm resolve and quiet consistency.
At the heart of this debate lies a simple question: what does it mean to believe in party supremacy and democratic order? When a contest does not go as hoped, does loyalty demand rebellion, or does it require discipline? Does it ask us to burn the house because we lost a room, or to help strengthen the house for everyone who lives in it? No one, to the best of my knowledge has abandoned the platform that brought us together. No legal war was declared against the process by the person I earlier supported, and no alternative flag was raised by him. The house remains standing, and the family, still intact and moving ahead in other statutory political ventures and activities. In such circumstances, conscience leaves little room for theatrics, but realities.
Politics, in the real sense of it, when stripped of sentimentality, is not about personal ambition alone; it is about structures, continuity, and the collective good of members. So, to insist on personal grievance over institutional stability is not courage; it is recklessness. True political maturity lies in knowing when to press forward and when to close ranks. In fact, in politics, you can’t go far if you keep away from critical stakeholders and feel that you can do it alone.
Supporting Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for a second term, therefore, for me, is not a betrayal of ideals; it is an affirmation of order, peace, and developmental continuity in Ekiti State. Governance is not a gamble to be played with emotions. Stability is not an accident; it is a choice, renewed consciously at critical moments.
In the same vain, standing firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a recognition of the fact that national progress demands consistency, patience, and collective responsibility. Nations do not grow by perpetual internal sabotage; they grow when citizens and party faithful alike subordinate personal hurts to shared destiny. This is why the path forward is clear. It is not about who feels aggrieved today, but about what Ekiti and Nigeria need tomorrow. It is about choosing unity over fragmentation, strategy over sentiment, and progress over protest, for just protest’s sake.
Those still nursing wounds must remember this enduring truth: a disciplined party is stronger than the loudest faction within it. Walking away does not heal the system, but working within it does. Protest may attract attention, but it is purpose that sustains relevance.
As the June 2026 Ekiti governorship election approaches, and as the nation looks ahead to 2027 Presidential election, this is a clarion call; not of coercion, but of conscience. A call to return to first principles; to remember why we chose the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the first place.
Let us rise above labels and names calling . Let us disappoint the cynics who believe every principled stance must have a price tag. Let us prove that loyalty can be intelligent, that support can be strategic, and that unity can be stronger than ego. History is rarely kind to those who fracture movements in moments of trial, but generous to those who, when tested, chose the harder road of patience, peace, and purpose.
This is not capitulation, but conviction. It is the politics of tomorrow; steady, thoughtful, and firmly aligned with the continued progress of the State and wellbeing of the people.
BAO remains the candidate, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, holding the baton beyond 2027.
Ekiti a gbe wa.
Amin!
