At many press briefings and public engagements, HE, Gov. John Kayode Fayemi’s response to proddings by the media about his future aspirations has always been;
“I want to leave Ekiti better than I met it; most importantly, I want to handover the government of Ekiti state to an APC governor”.
I have read from different sources and was privileged to hear from the horse’s mouth on the occasion of his 2021 private birthday celebration that I was honoured to be a guest.
I therefore take the foregoing statement of JKF to be his fervent prayer and foremost wish as he prepares to vacate the hilltop mansion of Ekiti government house.
Following from the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign rally, it seems clearly obvious to me that JKF’s prayer and wish is about to be answered.
Signs of JKF’s answered prayer was evident yesterday as Ekiti people, young and old across religious divide thrung the pavilion in support of the APC governorship candidate, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) who was handed the Party’s flag in a massively attended and colourful ceremony.
The event was attended by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC presidential flag-bearer, the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and members of the NWC, several serving and Ex APC Governors, Ministers, members of the National Assembly and other dignitaries too numerous to mention.
The presence of Asiwaju BAT, the progressives governors and the array of dignitaries who turned up to support BAO did not only add pep to the event but spoke of the impending doom that awaits opposition political parties in the electoral contest.
Asiwaju BAT amongst others who spoke at the rally predicted victory for APC. BAT declared that he was in Ekiti to deliver victory for APC. “I have never lost an election, I am in Ekiti to ensure the victory of BAO, he said. APC must continue the good works started in Ekiti by Governor Fayemi. We must not allow PDP or any other party to disrupt the current trajectory of development in Ekiti state, he enthused.
The support enjoyed by APC and BAO in Ekiti is massive and fundamental. APC is firmly rooted in the 16 local government areas following good governance and the developmental strides of Governor Fayemi in the state.
BAO, the incoming governor of Ekiti state has been part of the new vision for Ekiti. He is committed to sustain and carry-on the policies inauciated by JKF.
Contrary to observations by pundits that APC faces a formidable contention from the opposition SDP whose flag-bearer, HE, Segun Oni is a former Governor of the state, the reality on ground is that APC is most favoured to win the election of Saturday, 18th.
Thereafter, Governor Kayode Fayemi would have realised his dream and expectation to hand over government to an APC governor. To God lone be the glory.
