Local sources in Kaduna confirmed that on Sunday, about 26 houses were razed down by terrorists in attacks which they unleashed on the communities from Feb. 23 to Feb. 27.
The sources noted that Kaduna state government officials were still profiling the internally displaced persons (IDPs) for proper record keeping.
Communities affected, according to the sources, include Anaba, Sabongida, Maraici, Kwido, Kamaca, Gobirawa, Karo, Rago, Bakin-dam, Hayin Amadu, Malun, Unguwar-Najaja, all in Kerawa ward.
“The about 1,200 displaced persons are currently taking refuge in the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Birnin Yero, one of the principal towns of the local government area while some are hosted by their relatives and good Samaritans within the community,” one of the sources told HumAngle.
“At the moment, the good samaritans have volunteered to feed the IDPs and provide them with other essentials for bare comfort,” another source wishing anonymity said.
“Considering the fact that the IDPs are in dire need, the government should immediately provide food and other essentials items to relieve them of the hardship they ate undergoing,” he said.
“Government should also plan to immediately return the IDPs to their home communities to avoid outbreak of diseases in the unconventional camp, and also provide them with psychosocial counselling to rebuild their confidence,” he added.
