Biography: Engineer Yusuf Usman is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a graduate of Chemical Engineering from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has over 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry.
Engr. Usman started his carrier in 1987 as a Facilities/Project Engineer with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). In 1993, he joined the Services of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as Facilities Engineer and rose to become the Technical Assistant to GGM NAPIMS in 2007.

Despite COVID-19 since 2020, Nigeria Oil, Gas, and Power are confronted with the effect of the pummeling global pandemic, NNPC remained afloat in the year 2020 till date by improving efficiency, reducing cost, and diversifying investments across its value chain.
2020 is the year of Gas, this sector focus on gas delivery into the domestic market, There are lots of projects attached to this, the OB3 and the expansion of the Lagos Escravos Pipeline system 2 was extended to west africa and morrocco at the end of tunnel.
In the gas sector, a total of 223.55billion Cubit Feet (BCF) of natural was produced in the month of January, 2021, translating toan average daily production of 7,220.22 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (mmscfd). The 223.55BCF gas production figure also represents a 4.79 percent increase over output in December, 2020. This stride increase gas supply for power generation.

In 2010, he was redeployed to Gas & Power Directorate as Deputy Manager, Calabar to Ajaokuta Pipeline (CAP) Project, and concurrently as Deputy Project Manager of Lot A of the OB3. Arising from his exceptional performance and unparalleled leadership skills, Engr. Usman was seconded to the Office of the Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources (2011 – 2015) as Deputy Manager/Technical Assistant to Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas Matters).
In January 2015, he was promoted to a Manager and redeployed to Gas Infrastructure Division, Gas & Power Directorate as Project Manager, OB3 (Lots A & B). In June 2016 he was posted as General Manager (Cover) Planning and Business Development of the Exploration and Production Directorate where he supported the development of Investment Document for the China Investment Road Show that triggered about $80 million dollars investment opportunity. He also developed a strategy for E&P Directorate for enhanced oil to 2.3 million barrels a day and 1,500MMscf/d gas production to the domestic market.
In August 2016, Engr. Usman was redeployed to the office of the Group Managing Director (GMD) as General Manager Upstream, responsible for Management and review of Upstream Oil and Gas developments. He managed bilateral projects in the GMD’s office, which included all engagements with Qatari Investors, Crude Supply from Niger, Moroccan Investors Projects, etc. Through his resilience and hard work, Engr. Usman was promoted to the position of Group General Manager/ Senior Technical Assistant to GMD in August 2017 where he served until his appointment as the Chief Operating Officer, Gas & Power in July 2019. Since his appointment, he has transformed the Gas & Power Autonomous Business Unit (ABU) into the highest revenue earner in the NNPC Group.

Under his leadership of the Gas & Power Autonomous Business Unit of NNPC, the AKK Gas Pipeline and NLNG Train 7 Projects have been flagged off and are currently being executed after several years of failed attempts.
