Leaders of the Kwara State chapter of Miyetti Allah, including their President, Idris Abubakar, have been arrested for involvement in kidnapping and sponsorship of armed bandit groups in the state, the Nation reported.
Investigations indicated that the Miyetti Allah leader reportedly admitted to aiding multiple kidnapping operations linked to bandits.
“These are men over 60 years old, individuals who should be voices of peace, now accused of fueling terror and violence,” a security source said.
“This case exposes a deep moral failure by specific leaders, not a community, and it demands full accountability under the law.”

Authorities are said to be conducting further investigations to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement and whether other members of the organisation were complicit in facilitating or supporting the kidnappings.
The arrests have drawn public attention, with security analysts highlighting the need for accountability among leaders who are expected to uphold peace and stability in their communities.
