Speakership’s seat of Lagos House of Assembly may become a forbidden throne for current speaker, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, should he not be able to resolve financial misappropriation allegations leveled against him, aside other issues from Lagos state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC), and the house lawmakers were able to agree and sign his suspension.Even though the lawmakers were currently on a recess, it was authoritatively gathered that there could be an emergency plenary by the house to look at the issues raised against Obasa, though there were views that the matter should be resolved so as not to cause unbearable damages to the party and the state. Besides, among political class and the state chapter of APC’s leaders, there have been suspicions after Dr. Obasa was removed as leader of the party’s caucus group, Mandate, and been replaced by one of his Lagos west constituency’s member, Abdullahi Enilolobo, that the action signaled trouble for the speaker. Those who foresaw the embattled speaker’s future had predicted that he may not last long particularly with several documents linking Obasa to financial dealings of the house. However, there were released documents circulating within public domain during past weeks, alleging Dr. Obasa to be operating dozens of bank accounts, with Bank Verification Number (BVN) authenticating how the lawmaker had been allegedly misappropriating public funds through his office.Sources, who are top political leaders in the state, including lawmakers from the house, said that their wishes were that Obasa should be able to resolve issues that had brought crises to the house and that the party might have to intervene if need be.They explained that the allegations leveled against the speaker were under investigation and that Obasa had been trying to supply those in charge of the finding needful information such that can prove his innocence.
