When I first presented Okorobo festival to the world on the internet in 2006, I gave the article this caption: Okorobo Festival – Tourists’ Delight. I stated in the pictorial seminal essay that it would be a beautiful idea if the list of very entertaining festivals could be compiled and packaged such that adventurous tourists could plan their vacations to see the spectacular tradional festivals in Ekiti. To my greatest joy, Okorobo festival has attracted the attention of Ekiti State government through the Ministry of Tourism with effect from this year, 2024 festival.
This indeed is good news.However, to optimally drive the economic leg of tourism development in Ekiti-State, a standard transport system, good and safe road network within and outside the state, sustainable lasting security of life and properties, and more efficient hospitality outlets become imperative.
One can only hope that the eldorado shall be attained one day while wishing Ekiti people and the government all the best.Let me wish my kinsmen happy celebrations today.
