…Seeks return to party, begs for soft landing
There are strong indications that the embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi has started seeking a return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Impeccable sources confirmed to The Politico that Ajayi, who resigned his membership of the APC to contest for the governorship ticket of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but lost the primaries to the State’s former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, is currently locked in a meeting with the APC Reconciliation Committee headed by Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, in Abuja.
According to sources at the meeting, Ajayi is looking for a soft landing from the APC having been rejected by Jegede, candidate of the PDP to be his running mate.
Jegede has reportedly submitted the name of Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as his running mate.
Meanwhile, as he is begging APC for a soft landing, credible reports have it that Ajayi is lobbying the immediate past Governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, so that he can vie for the October governorship election on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Those present in the ongoing meeting in Abuja, according to sources, include Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN and a federal lawmaker from Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller, among others.
