A body that chooses to spearhead the re-election bid of the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State has been inaugurated in Osogbo, the state capital.
According to the state Co-ordinator of the group, Oyetola Consultative Forum(OCF), Rt. Hon Olanike Omoworare, which has its local government chapters’ co-ordinators inaugurated recently, part of the objectives of the new forum is to reconcile all the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a view to fortifying the party in preparation for future elections in the state.
Omoworare who was the first female speaker in the State House of Assembly, also disclosed that an overture for peace would also be extended to some former members of the APC who might have joined other parties especially during the last governorship primary election which engendered disaffection among some members.
The OCF state Co-ordinator stated further that it was the glaring superlative developmental achievements of Oyetola in all the sectors of endeavours that prompted the formation of the forum which members are consisting of some eminent politicians in the state.
Some of the apex members of the forum who spoke in turns attested to the fact that Governor Oyetola is performing well in the state, adding that “he needs to be encouraged through unconditional support by the people of the state to do more”.
Reeling out the additional objectives of the forum, Omoworare disclosed that: “Upon the realisation that an action governor like Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola will benefit the state if his four-year mandate is renewed for another four years, we came together to enlarge the political working structure of Governor Oyetola.
“We are experienced politicians of repute with the goal of mobilising a statewide cross-political support for the second term of Governor Oyetola.
“Our primary objectives include: reconciling aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC); mobilising politicians across political divide to work for the second term of Governor Oyetola.
“Seeking the support of opinion leaders and stakeholders in Osun State to favour an additional four-year term for Governor Oyetola and supporting the APC structure in the aim of mobilising people, support and votes for the re-election of Governor Oyetola”, she disclosed.
The governor who was represented by the duo of the Information Commissioner, Mrs Funke Egbemode and his counterpart in the state ministry of local government, Hon Adeleke, lauded the efforts of the OCF, with an assurance of the government’s support in its areas of needs.
The state APC chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who was represented by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi, saluted the courage of the members over evolution of the new forum.
Famodun stated that judging by the credentials of the apex members and leaders of the new forum, the purpose for which the body was inaugurated would be achieved.
The state party chairman told the forum that the party would be ready to assist in achieving and realising it’s vision.
Among the apex members of the forum in attendance are: the former state Commissioner for Finance, Hon Toyese Ojo; former Health Commissioner, Hon Lanre Afolabi; Hon Adejumo Rasaq; Hon Wale Dawodu; Hon Ismail Kolawole, former House of Representatives member; Hon B.M. Adekoyejo; Hon Sola Adewumi; Hon Tunde Oyetunde and Alhaji Lateef Usman.
Others are Chief(Dr) Ademola Akande; Hon Dayo Eluyemi; Engr Shona Taiwo Ibraheem; Hon Yemi Oke; Hon Tosin Ogunjuyigbe; Hon Alabi Kazeem; Hon Yemi Omotosho and Elder Bashorun Lawal among others.
