The Tenth National Assembly was inaugurated on June 13, 2023. In his inaugural speech, Senator Cyril Fasuyi unfolded his agenda encapsulated in the three ‘Ps’ i. e the People, the Platform and the Place.
By the people, it means the constituents of Ekiti North, Ekiti State people and Nigerian citizens whose interests, well-being, rights and privileges shall be protected through effective legislations and impactful policies and programmes.
The platform connotes his political party, the All Progressives Congress, on which vehicle he rode to the Senate, which, the Senator said, shall be well-nourished and organised to compete effectively in future elections.
The Place is the Ekiti North Senatorial District that comprises five local government areas of Ido- Osi, Moba, Ilejemeje, Oye and Ikole with fifty six (56) wards. The social, political, economic and infrastructure developments shall be the utmost priorities.
To show his commitment and concerns to the general well-being of Nigerians, Senator Fasuyi’s first prayer to the Senate on the debate on electricity tariff was that the poor must be allowed to breathe and freed from the shackles and suffocation of the decaying power infrastructure to make life more comfortable.
The phrase ‘let the poor breathe’ was quoted from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s speech and it is now a recurrent decimal to measure the mood of the nation as moved on the floor of the Senate by Senator Fasuyi.
In less than two months in the saddle, Senator Fasuyi facilitated capacity training programmes for 100 youths selected across the five local governments of Ekiti North. They were trained on modern soap-making techniques and he empowered them with chemicals and cash to commence a small scale business of their own.
Others were trained on poultry and livestock farming methods. Thirty six (36) poultry birds were given to each of the fifty trainees with livestock feeds and cash to start up poultry business. The youth are fully engaged now and happy doing something on their own.
SEN. FASUYI’s FUNDED EKITI NORTH YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM: THE OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS.
Technology has made giant strides in every human life, businesses and the world at large. It is therefore imperative that every youth must strive to acquire life changing information technology skills to be globally employable and sought after talents. Senator Fasuyi realising the very important emerging trends in the world decided to singularly fund a microsoft skilling program for Youth constituents of his district with several millions of naira. The up skilling program is a four months intensive and practical residential courses for young graduates from Ekiti North Senatorial District.
PROGRAM
The four months residential microsoft skilling programs will enable the participants to benefit from:
- 21st century information technology skills to make them globally sought after talents.
- Participants will be trained on cloud platform solutions
- Participants will be trained on Computer Science and data science.
- Participants will be trained on coding skills and information technology infrastructures
- Participants will be trained on office productivity solutions
- Participants will be trained on skills vibrant for digital economy.
- Participants will be trained on life transforming information technology skills for capacity building and global competitiveness. BENEFITS
The Youths shall acquire different right information technology skills set to manage emerging technology issues globally.
- Microsoft certification after the examination to provide global employment and internship opportunities.
*The Youths will have opportunities to attract funding for investment and information technology ideas
- The Youths will enjoy mentorship opportunities from IT Experts around the world for personal up skills and development.
It is a well considered opinion that the program will transform the lives of participants from unskilled job seekers to much sought after talents globally and become employer of labour themselves. This is a radical departure from the past where motorcycles, hair driers, grinding machines etc are distributed to constituents as empowerments.
The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti North also benefited from the kind-hearted Senator. A sum of one million naira (N1m) was donated to the party to get a befitting accommodation as the Senatorial Office and equip it with furniture to make it comfortable for meetings and other engagements.
Senator Fasuyi has also embarked on a ‘thank you’ visits to traditional rulers of the district. As of today, he has visited the traditional councils of Ido- Osi and Oye local governments to brief the Obas on his activities and programmes in the Senate. He assured the Kabiyesis of constant consultations and dialogues to prioritise the needs of Ekiti North people.
Senator Fasuyi as a grassroots politician who loves and values the people has appointed five vibrant youths across the five local governments as Special Assistants on Youths, Students, Women and Political Matters to galvanise and mobilise the people in ensuring that all his programmes and activities are taken down to the constituents in every town and village. Efforts are in top gear to further appoint Special Assistants among the non-indigenes for tribal and ethnic groups domiciled in the district to let everyone benefit from dividends of democracy.
Senator Fasuyi’s success as a first timer in the Senate to get the Chairman of Senate Committee on Establishments and Public Services and membership of other Committees like Defence, FCT, Army, Navy, Air force, Procurement, Capital Market etc portends good omen for employment opportunities for Ekiti North youths in various ministries, departments and agencies.
Indeed, Ekiti North is on the path of development as never witnessed under the able and responsible representation of the man of the people in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
