Some People Living With Disabilities (PLWD), have commended the State
Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for considering them eligible to
participate in the recruitment exercise meant to inject new officers
into the State Civil Service.
Speaking during the examinations conducted for intending Civil
Servants at the weekend, some physically challenged who participated
in the exam through special aid, expressed optimism that they will be
employed.
Visually impaired Owoeye Damilola and Sowande Emmanuel, who took their
exams at the Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti, lauded the Fayemi-led
administration for giving them the rare privilege to partake in the
process, stating that the step has rekindled their hope and given them
a lease of life.

They called on the State Government to consider them specially by
being lenient with the marking scheme for the written examinations and
oral interviews that will come up later.
Some of the special candidates were provided with typewriters and
other aids meant to assist them with the examinations.
The Head of Service, Mr. Ayodeji Ajayi expressed the readiness of the
State Government to give a quota to the physically challenged in the
state in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
He stated that rather than throw them on the streets as beggars, the
State Government will make frantic efforts to empower the people
living with disabilities as they remain a force to be reckoned with in
any society.
