Ayo Fayose and his Plebeians
By Dr Sunday Aniyi.
Mr Ayo Fayose has done his duty. He tried his best and history will write of him in the best or worst subscriptions.
I’m however disappointed that his cotery of fair weather friends and appointees abandoned him when he needed their emotional support most.
He wept uncontrollably like a lachrymose when he saw how empty he had become. Poor folk hero, he didn’t know folks are like Roman plebeians, hail him today, jail him tomorrow.
Because of his abrasive nature, he has been a butt of wicked jokes in Ekiti, I don’t think we should mock or gloat over him in this humbling moment. We all do have it.
We need to interrogate the deceptive character of our people who deify and lionise you while in charge but demonize you once power slips away. It tells a lot more about the duplicitous and fake loyalty of our people. They also did it to Fayemi but same people are struggling to sit in front row now.
Fair weather friends are dangerous, may you never have them.
