The governing council in an attempt to amicably resolve the crisis between the former Registrar Dr Ogunleye Oladele Alhassan and the Rector Dr John Taiwo Adekolawole Edaogbogun in the on going case of gun running which the Rector has been alleged as the master mind, the Governing Council of the Polytechnic invited the former Registrar for amicable resolution yesterday, Friday, 17th December, 2021.
Our sources, indicated that the former Registrar stood his ground and insisted that criminal offence is beyond the purview of the Governing Council and not covered by PSR, as such the council should proceed to interdict the Rector as requested by his counsel.
On the threat to investigate him for misconduct, Dr. Ogunleye we learnt boldly told the council that he is above board in all ramifications, and that he was prepared to sacrifice the remaining years of his service to redeem his name and integrity as only the court of law can totally exonerate him.
Reacting, the former Registrar, Dr. Oladele Ogunleye confirmed the story, and further explained that the council did not understand the complexity of the case and vowed that no amount of pressure will stop the rector from being prosecuted and in his words “I am convinced that the Council has sympathy for the rector forgetting that the rector has earlier wrongfully interdicted some people on which the council is still handling and now the rector has been accused of an interdictable offence the council wants amicable resolution.”
The former registrar confirmed that the rector further complicated the issue when he insisted that the registrar wanted to marry his wife as confirmed by his mother in law, which is the source of their disagreement.
In his reaction, the Council Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (Rtd) said both of them talk too much and they tell lies. “To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think they have problem and if they have, it has not come to my own notice.”
“I was the one that invited all the past management members to look for ways to move the polytechnic forward. Also to tell those who have taken the school to court to withdraw their cases so that we can call for table settlement.”
On the letter written by the counsel to the ex-registrar requesting for the immediate interdiction of the rector to allow for unfettered investigation, the council chairman said it is very wrong for him to have written such letter, “The letter as far as am concerned is nothing to write home about.” he said
Attempt to speak with the rector proved abortive as calls and messages sent to his line were not responded to.
