Ekiti Assembly orders Security Agencies to fish out Indian Hemp farmers in Ootunja Ekiti.
Ekiti State House of Assembly has ordered all the Security Agencies in the state to arrest the suspected Indian Hemp farmers who have invaded the people’s farmland in Ootunja Ekiti in Ikole Local Government.
The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Funminiyi Afuye said this yesterday at the plenary sitting when a Matter of Urgent Public Importance was raised by the Leader of Government Business, Hon Oluboyega Aribisogan, the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 1, that his people in Ootunta Ekiti in Ikole Local Government have been chased out of their farmland by some unscrupulous Indian hemp farmers who had taken over their land. According the lawmaker, these suspected criminals allegedly invaded the farmland with guns and other dangerous weapons recently and began the cultivation of Indian Hemp otherwise known as Cannabis Sativa on their land. Aribisogan in his submission, urged the House to intervene and save his people from needless attack from these invaders.
The Speaker in his ruling, described the activities of these invaders as unlawful, barbaric and inimical to peace and order of the state
He therefore ordered that all the Security Agencies, particularly the National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, (NDLEA) to deploy their men to Ootunja Ekiti and fish out the suspected Indian Hemp farmers.
He also directed the House Committee on Security Matters to invite all the security chiefs in the state to the House for interaction on the security of lives and property in the state.
