….she doesn’t know Bangladesh and has never applied for the citizenship of that Country ….
…..the UK Home Secretary stripped her of her British Citizenship a few years ago due to her decision of join Al Qeda….
Begum who lost her husband and 3 Children in hostilities in the Al Qeda enclave is now in detention In a refugee camp in Syria says as an adult she has now realised the folly of her rash decisions of the past and that she has now repentant and reformed and wants to reclaim her British Citizenship….and return to live in UK.
….an Immigration Tribunal in the UK has rejected her application to regain British Citizenship!!!
And Bangladesh has refused to give her a Passport!
A 1961 UN Convention is against rendering a person stateless either at birth or later in life
…but the UK Tribunal says it did not render Begum Stateless because the letter of the Law of Bangladesh confers automatic Citizenship on her by virtue of her parents citizenship!!!
This is just round one of this long legal battle as Begum intends to appeal against the Tribunal decision!
