The Chief Executive Officer of agro-allied company, YSJ Limited, Yemisi Joluwe, has confirmed that she filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police, which led to the arrest of an Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Abimbola Olawunmi, alleging blackmail, harassment and threats to her life.
Speaking during an interview with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Joluwe said she was compelled to seek legal redress after exhausting other options to call the suspect to order, insisting that she was only asking for justice.
According to her, Olawunmi allegedly made her personal telephone number, home and office address public, exposing her to incessant calls, harassment, intimidation and threat to her life.
She went through the media to put my personal phone number out for people to start calling me and bullying me. She has been blackmailing me, and everything she has done has affected my life and work. That is why I decided to take this step,” she said.
Joluwe also alleged that she had been unfairly treated by the Ekiti State Government, claiming that authorities had failed to support her despite being an investor operating in the state.
She expressed disappointment over the handling of an earlier case involving some youths she had reported, alleging that they were released without due process.
“I am highly disappointed with the state government. I expected them to stand by me, but they released those youths without due process or informing me,” she alleged.
The YSJ boss also claimed that Olawunmi was involved in an alleged plot to kidnap her and in the kidnap of some youths working at one of YSJ’s farms, adding that she had filed a petition over the matter and possessed evidence to support her claims.
“I have my facts and I have evidence of everything. I will present them at the appropriate time. This woman is involved in the kidnapping of my staff, and I am going to prove it,” she said.
She also explained that one of two young men who were abducted was later killed, describing the incident as devastating and saying the deceased left behind a wife and five children which she has to shoulder their upkeep
Joluwe further claimed that unknown persons had visited her residence on two occasions and threatened to kidnap her, adding that she had voice recordings and other evidence to support her allegations.
Maintaining that no individual is above the law, she said she would pursue the matter through the courts until justice was served.
“We have laws in this country, and nobody has the right to take the law into their hands. I want justice, and I will continue to pursue it until I get justice,” she stated.
I urge the state government to steer clear of this matter, the government is trying to release her again just like the youths were released, I am also a Nigerian, I shouldn’t be denied right to justice just because I am not from Ekiti.
