A delegation of student leaders and youth representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have thrown their weight behind the second term ambition of Governor Biodun Oyebanji after embarking on an inspection tour of major infrastructure projects across Ekiti State.
The tour began with a visit to the newly constructed Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS) headquarters located in the Fajuyi area of Ado-Ekiti, before moving to other project sites across the state, including the ongoing flyover construction, the 80-bedded modern hospital at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), facilities at Ekiti State University (EKSU), the 18.2km ring road phase 1 and the Ekiti Cargo International Airport.

“Seeing is believing, we came here to see what our Governor is doing and to understand why Ekiti people should continue to support him. This building is a very good edifice and one of the quality projects the Governor has embarked upon. We are here to appreciate what the government has done.”
Receiving the delegation, one of the Directors in EKIRS, Ibukun Ajayi, described the project as a major boost to revenue administration in the state, saying the new facility has significantly improved their working conditions and enhanced the agency’s operational efficiency.
“It is a laudable project that has greatly helped us in the discharge of our duties in revenue generation. It provides a comfortable working environment and supports our efforts to boost the state’s economy.
We appreciate the Governor for putting up this facility and we urge students and residents to continue to support the administration.”
Another senior official at the agency, Joseph Olorunfemi, also commended the government for the project, describing it as one of the administration’s legacy initiatives.
“This is one of the legacy projects the Governor embarked upon last year and EKIRS is a beneficiary.

The Governor has shown a futuristic mindset by initiating a project that addresses not just today’s needs but also future economic growth”. He added
Owolewa noted that the project would bring significant economic and transportation benefits to residents, saying “This project will add value to the state and ease transportation for residents,. When a Governor is able to envision and execute projects like this, it shows leadership with foresight”.
At the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), the team inspected the construction of an 80-bedded modern hospital facility aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.
The Site Engineer for the project, Onifade Amos, said the facility would be equipped with modern medical infrastructure to handle a wide range of health conditions.

Leading the delegation to the new EKIRS office, former South-West Cordinator of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Owolewa Taiwo, said the visit was aimed at assessing the progress of projects executed by the Oyebanji administration, adding that they were satisfied with work done so far

“It has assisted revenue generation and created a conducive environment for us to carry out our responsibilities. We are also enjoying improved voluntary compliance from residents who are performing their civic duties.”
The delegation also inspected the ongoing construction of a new flyover project in the state capital.
The flyover Project Manager, Engineer David Saani, explained that the project spans approximately 1.2 kilometres and began in March 2024, expected to be ready for commissioning by the end of April, 2026.
“The project is strategically located because of its economic importance to the environment. It is designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve mobility within the city.
“The major goal of the project is to improve healthcare services in the state. The building will contain modern facilities, including lifts, ramps and specialized sections for different medical services.
“It is designed for easy accessibility and efficient healthcare delivery. We expect the project to be ready for commissioning soon”. Amos added
Owolewa described the hospital project as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving public health, saying“This is another important project by Governor Oyebanji. The state government is performing remarkably in the health sector.
“I have not seen such a project in many state-owned facilities across Nigeria. It clearly shows a commitment to the wellbeing of the people.”
Similarly, Asaolu Femi Samuel, NANS South-West Treasurer and a student representative in the APC Campaign Council, said the projects demonstrate the importance of continuity in governance.
The President of the Students’ Union Government at the College of Nursing Sciences, Omotowoji Moyinoluwa praised the government for supporting healthcare and education infrastructure.
“This facility is of very high standard and it will help reduce casualties and improve healthcare delivery in the state,” she said. “It will make life easier for residents. We also appreciate the government for providing a 250-capacity ICT facility for students”. He added
“We have visited several project sites and I can attest that the Governor has done well. Continuity in governance is important for the completion and sustainability of these projects”.
At Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Professor Oluwatuyi Omotosho, commended the administration for prioritizing the welfare of the university community.
He said the ongoing ICT Experience Centre in the Institution, facilitated by the Governor’s wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji will ease academic processes for students and make them competitive with the colleagues in the contemporary world.
“Our Governor places a high premium on the welfare of the people. He has increased the university’s subventions, enabling us to pay staff salaries promptly. There have been scholarships for students and the campus has enjoyed a stable academic environment without student unrest”. He added
The delegation also toured the 18.2km Ekiti Ring Road Phase 1, which they described as a significant infrastructure project in the State, aimed at decongesting the Ado Ekiti metropolis, which experiences high traffic from heavy trucks and to facilitate the movement of agricultural products from rural areas to urban centers.
The team equally visited the Ekiti Cargo International Airport, which according to them will serve as an agro-allied hub for exporting perishables and improving regional connectivity, as well as fostering economic development, creating jobs and enhancing access to the agricultural sector within Nigeria and internationally
Receiving the delegation, the Acting Airport Manager, Franklin Mohworode, said the facility is already contributing to economic development in the state.
“There has been a steady increase in passenger traffic, which is a positive sign. Air transport drives economic growth by reducing travel time and connecting the state to other parts of the country. Ekiti’s central location makes the airport an important development for the region”. He added
Inspecting the Ikere–Ilawe–Igbara-Odo road which passed through Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), several student representatives expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, noting that the projects will have long-term benefits for residents and students alike.
Oluwakayode Temiloluwa, the immediate past president of Female Students, described the Governor as a visionary leader who prioritizes both present needs and future development.
“The Governor is not someone who only thinks about the present but also about the future. He has performed excellently well and this is more reason for us to vote for him so that the ongoing projects will be completed”.
Also speaking, Michael Oluwaseun, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Ekiti State, praised the Governor for fulfilling his promises to the academic community.
“His projects are top-notch. The Governor made a promise that he would do something in the academic environment and he has fulfilled it. When you talk about subventions, bursaries and support for students, his administration has shown commitment. This road project is not only helping residents but also students who commute to institutions within the axis”.
Another student leader, Adedoyin Bamgboye, appreciated the Governor for the increase in student bursaries, adding that the improved road networks leading to various campuses across the state would make movement easier for students.
“We appreciate the Governor for increasing the bursary to students and for supporting student conventions. These gestures show that the administration values education and student welfare.
“Looking at the health sector as well, the Governor has done a lot. Many facilities are being upgraded and that is commendable,” he said.
Adeyemi Temitope also urged students across the state to support the Governor in the forthcoming election, saying “I urge students to come out en masse to vote for Governor Biodun Oyebanji. He has done wonderfully well in health, sports and other sectors. There is no sector he has not touched, and no local government has been sidelined. The roads linking institutions are top-notch.
“I urge them to come out on June 20 to support our state governor so that the good work can continue”.
A student participant, Adebiyi Boluwatife, also expressed confidence that students would rally behind the Governor.
“To be candid, I am saying it here that students will come out to vote for our Governor based on what we have seen so far,” he said.
At the Funminiyi Afuye Model College in Ikere-Ekiti, members of the delegation were taken round the newly constructed facilities within the school.
The Vice Principal, Oluwasona Oluwatoyin, described the project as a major boost to the education sector, saying “This is a beautiful edifice. The facilities here are modern and conducive for learning. We have about 45 toilets and other supporting infrastructure. We give kudos to the Governor for this remarkable development”.
The student leaders also visited the Ekiti State Film Village in Ado-Ekiti, a project expected to boost tourism, entertainment and job creation in the state.
Speaking at the site, the project’s site engineer, Boniface Benjamin, highlighted the scale and potential impact of the development, describing it as one of the key creative industry investments in the state.
He commended the Governor’s efforts, noting that the projects demonstrate a commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy.
