Association of Nigerian Authors:
The monthly reading event of Ekiti State chapter of ANA had indeed a Special Guest Reader for the month of October.
Her Excellency Erelu Bisi Fayemi drew exceeding maximum venue capacity audience from virtually the four corners of Nigeria’s scholar world. Osofisan, Okediran, Soremekun, Olu Obafemi, others….
On review were 3 of her publications, consideration was also given to a few of her notably poems.
In harmony with the “new thinking” of Ekiti as relates too restoring not only a few (but many) of Ekiti eroded values over the past 4 years resultant of bad governance & leadership ….
Within Ekiti, a reading culture must be revamped; Advocacy for gender sensitivity must be redoubled…..
The state chapter of ANA and notable national members requested of Her excellency to assist highlight and possibly get included in the Government’s plan for creating a “Knowledge Zone” Hub a space particularly for Authors.
The high point of the event for me personally was the assurances by Her Excellency of her support for African Cultural Practices that accommodate modern concept while retaining their original essence. Africa must not lose her culture to Brazil or Cuba!!!
