A farmer in Nigeria is looked at as a poor person who farms on a subsistence basis..
He has no support structure..
He is perennially exploited by middle men..
He is dependent on some ‘bogus’ subsidy regimes..
He is represented by some ‘farmer group’ that do not have his interest at heart..
He is on his own..
RiceAfrika in collaboration with Corporate Farmers International is redefining the Nigerian Farmer.
In other climes, a farmer is everyone involved in the value chain.
From the person who plants the seed, to the buyer of farm produce, from the processor, to the logistics person, and finally to the last mile distributor.
All the above are farmers.
The Nigerian Farmer needs the above support structure to move from subsistence to commercial farming.
The support structure of the value chain ensures a guaranteed offtake…
And that is the objective of the Food Distribution Network (FDN), about to be unleashed by RiceAfrika and Corporate Farmers International..
The target is for Corporate Farmers International to create 1000 sales agent location for RiceAfrika in the south west in 6 months (for now)…
The FDN will usher in a new breed of agro entrepreneurs..
