Wow…And What A Way To End An Otherwise Illustrious Political Career, CSO!!!
My message to His Excellency Dr John Kayode Fayemi (Sir):
- Stay focused; ignore distractions.
Ẹni tó ńsáré tó ńwo ẹ̀hìn, ó di dandan, kó fi ẹsẹ̀ kọ. /
Whoever keeps looking back while running will certainly stumble.
- Mímì lẹpọ̀n àgbò ńmì, kò lè já. /
The ram’s testicles are merely dangling, they cannot fall off.
APC (Progressive) in Ekiti is today a stronger, more united Political Party thanks to many factors, but largely because of the political maturity and large hearted attributes of the winner of both the party primary and gubernatorial elections of 2018 in the person of Dr John Kayode Fayemi.
Always worthy of note and interest is the olive branch extended immediately to all aspirants in the primary, but most importantly was the respect accorded all aspirants despite full public knowledge that many aspirants were in the race to grandstand while enjoying the shortlived fame.
Many political senior associates and colleagues critiqued the aftermath of the primary. Many conspiracy theories were flown, eventually truth prevailed and the victory sustained. Yet, disappointing though the respected Chief Segun Oni divisively chose to play “the victim card”!! Perception plays a huge role in political circles…..Till date, all post mortem critique of the APC primary which Chief Segun Oni came a distant second indicate the absence of good sportsman spirit by not just himself, but all of his misguiding kitchen cabinet members. Their numbers continuously reduce by the day.
A critical question which lies on morality is “why did chief Segun Oni congratulate the winner but still went ahead to institute a legal suit against a victory which he personally endorsed through acceptance, delivery and cordial exchange of felicitations? At a point, chief Segun Oni attempted to distant himself from the legal suit, claiming the suit was been spearheaded by over zealous kitchen cabinet members who hoped to use the suit as a bargaining tool…but at last the masquerade danced naked in public glare when he could no longer hide behind a finger, hence my proclamation of chief playing the victim card.
APC like other Nigerian Political Parties have well laid out procedures for dispute resolution after elections; a genuinely passionate party man and democrat would explore this route as against the extreme move of applying seemingly arm twisting technical legal suit strategy for an otherwise resolvable in-house family affair.
The plot thickens by the day as sponsored articles fly across newspaper pages and on-line sites in clearly botched attempts to present the chief Segun Oni course as strengthening democracy. I declare that rather than strengthening the bedrock of party politics (democracy), the exact opposite is the result of his lawsuit as the resultant effect if not properly managed would have further balkanized the Ekiti Progressive fold.
Kudos to JKF and teeming supporters for the restrain so far exhibited through disciple and well measured utterances. As true democrats, we must avoid actions/inactions that are capable of heating up polity. Ekiti more than ever requires stability and a focused government which thank God so far, JKF led administration is providing.
Not in an attempt to open old healed wounds….some questions on the tongues of many pundits:
- Has chief really ever participated and won any fair contest?
- Can chief and his kitchen cabinet members refute not having benefitted directly from a JKF primary and gubernatorial election victory through their participation in various national assignment opportunities as pushed by this current APC Ekiti State leadership?
- So really, what does chief want? There definetly isn’t vacancy at OkeAyaba till 2022!!
Monday 10/12/18 will pass as another day in the calendar to be remembered as the day a political gladiator visibly clutched to a straw while demystifying his political career as a bad loser.
The talk amongst his misguided supporters is that the case suit marked HC/ABJ/CS/663/18 will go all the way to the Supreme court. Wow…and what a way to end an otherwise illustrious political career!!!
