The people of the Southwest have a long history of relationship with the North, ditto other parts of Nigeria and the World.
It is surprising a few misguided mischief makers portray it as a grand plot to evict Fulani from Yoruba land.
All over the Southwest are there settlements with names of Northern extraction : Sabo, Zango, Kaara, Ketere, Angwa which often called Ago-Hausa or Ago-Fulani can be found in most parts of Yoruba land. This is a clear pointer to the hospitality, magnanimity and tolerance of our people. That we are peace loving and accommodating to a fault should not be misconstrued as weakness, neither do we subscribe to organize crime.
All we are saying is that we should come together to combat crime.
At no time has Yoruba people stereotype a whole tribe or ethnicity as criminally minded or perpetrators of evil, however we are not poor in nosing and sniffing out those with disposition to nefarious activities.
Combating crime is a collective responsibility, when a group develops cold feet where their input is desperately required in solving a common problem, it suggests a whole lot.
This is what necessitate some of the drastic actions viewed as a deliberate attack on Northerners especially the cattle breeding stock.
It is never too late for the law abiding Fulani people and Northerners resident in the Southwest to stand clear and firm on the side of safety and security of themselves and the community at large to rid several parts of the Southwest of crime.
