Oil prices yesterday maintained their upswing, hitting their highest in about 13 months on the back of vaccine rollouts expected to increase demand even as producers kept supply reined in. Global benchmark, Brent Crude, was up 88 cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $63.31 a barrel after climbing to a significant high of $63.76, the highest since January 22, 2020. Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Monday raised the alarm that soldiers are now targets of bandits in the Northwest geo-political zone. The bandits are becoming bolder; they attack military camps and ambush those on patrol, he said. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures inflation increased by 16.47 per cent in January 2021, the highest point since April 2017. This is 0.71 per cent points higher than the rate in December 2020 which accounted for 15.57 per cent. The data was shown in the CPI/Inflation report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday, 16th February 2021. The Nigeria Army has uncovered an abandoned structure serving as a hideout for criminals on Parliamentary Road, Calabar. Army, Brigadier General M. A. Abdullahi, 13 Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army who was represented by Major S. N. Ikpeme told journalists at the Brigade Headquarters on Monday.
